Geotagging in Digital Cameras
Geotagging refers to tagging a digital photograph with the latitude and longitude coordinates of the location where it was taken.
Once photographs are geotagged they can be sorted according to location, perhaps in a mapping application which could be running on a computer, or even in the camera itself. Large databases of geotagged images uploaded to the internet offer hugely exciting possibilities: it will be possible to search for any location and view any number of photographs taken from many different viewpoints and at different times.
Air's first product – Airwave1 - offers the possibility to integrate a fully automated geotagging function into digital cameras that operates completely transparently to the user. By continuously tracking the location of the camera, Airwave1 is always ready to instantly provide coordinates when a photograph is taken.
